George Washington Loved to Dance

1st graders at Sherwood Elementary performing to Yankee Doodle Dandy

This is a great program for children ages K-5th Grades but could be adapted
for children of all ages.  It takes different forms depending on the resources of the school.

Option A- Lecture/Demonstration (grades 4-12th)
Discuss and perform dances popular during the American Revolution.  This requires some participation from the kids as we explore the questions of Who, What, When, Why and Where!

Option B- Week-Long Residency
Visiting Physical Education or Music Classes for a 45 minute lesson on manners/etiquette and a short country dance with a bit of social history in the mix!

Option C-  Visiting the Classroom

Lets push back the desks and go back in time!

Ideal for students of Music, History, and English!  The topic can be adapted to the current subject.  Whether the students are playing a minuet, reading Shakespeare, or studying European and American history of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Private lessons

The 17th and 18th century dance manuals offer interesting and humorous insight for those aspiring to improve their skills in society,  on the dance floor and, of course, with the opposite sex!  Private Classes can be tailored to one's interest, experience,  and age.   All enquiries can be made to the addresses
listed at the bottom of this page!

performed  at Federal Hall in downtown Manhattan.  It was on this site
(but not this version of the buliding) that George Washington gave his first inaugural address.

Weddings

Why not spice up your wedding festivities with a little baroque intrigue!  I have worked with couples to add this colorful element to their wedding parties!

Pictured above is a performance I gave during a wedding reception at a historic Inn located in upstate NY.   I choreographed  to  a suite of  songs by Henry Purcell.  The
theme was Love, of course!
