MUSIC: Live it, Love it, DANCE IT!
Through movement we can find the pulse, rhythm, character, and phrasing of popular music and dance forms of the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
Classes can be tailored for participants but can include teaching basic rhthyms and steps of dance/music forms, demonstration of these forms, but I have also danced while students accompany me as a way to discuss phrasing, tempi, and character.
Dance Forms Taught Include: Pavane, Canary, Galliard, Branle, Menuet, Gavotte, Sarabande, Bourrée, Polonaise, Waltz, Mazurka, and Polka.
Past Classes Include: Carnegie Hall Spring Family Day, Elizabeth Faidley Violin Studio, Bloomingdale School of Music, Juilliard Historical Performance program, Ensemble ACJW, Rutgers University, The Knights, Hoff-Barthelson Music School, and Yale University.
